Organ Recital

IAN PATTINSON was brought-up in Kendal, where he sang as a chorister at the Parish Church. He is a graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. His organ tutors have included Joan Swindlehurst, James Wishart-Hodgson, Adrian Self, David Bruce-Payne and David Sanger; he has participated in master-classes led by tutors that have included Kevin Bowyer, Dame Gillian Weir, Douglas Hollick, Nicolas Kynaston and Piet Kee, and in an improvisation master-class with Naji Hakim.

Ian has held positions as Organ Scholar at Birmingham and Blackburn Cathedrals, and Assistant Organist at the latter. Since 2001, he has been Organist at Lancaster Priory, where he directs the Priory Occasional Singers. He is also an organ recitalist, organ and piano accompanist, teacher of organ and piano, composer, and keen improviser on the organ. 

Ian has given organ recitals in venues that have included the Temple Church in London, Halifax Minster, Pembroke College Oxford, Morpeth Methodist Church, and the cathedrals of Birmingham, Liverpool, and Blackburn. He has worked with orchestras as an organ concerto soloist in works by Poulenc, Handel and Corrette, and has played in the Saint-Saëns ‘Organ’
